i'll tell you a little about myself here. ive been a professional musician for awhile now and still love it. i write, produce, gig, record and teach full time.  I was raised in Congo my medical missionary parents and really appreciate that introduction to the bigger world out there.  Living in congo as a kid and teenager gave me a thirst for travel and an appreciation of different cultures, peoples and languages.  Right now I am dividing my time between living in Costa Rica in a small village on the Pacific Ocean called Nosara and doing professional music business work in California where most of my family including my daughter Thais lives.

On my media page you can read a more formal bio and get sound clips of my work if you are interested in hiring me as a musician. producer, writer, arranger or teacher.  I also am an avid surfer which was the initial reason Costa Rica drew me in. Now I so greatly appreciate my quality of life there, the peacefulness, the feeling of community, the extra time i seem to have to practise and grow as a player and writer that the surfing issue has been superceeded.  But,  don't get me wrong, I'm still out in those waves every week if not everyday and do teach surfing on the side to friends, family members and sometimes tourists.

as far as what i play, I consider myself equally strong acoustic, electric guitarist and bassist. My styles are solid in rock, jazz, world (particularly African), brazilian, latin, spanish, country, bluegrass and blues.

gear wise I use mostly Fender amps, go stereo with a pair when appropriate, use a Pod and lots of foot-pedals for session work and play Taylor acoustic guitars exclusively, including their nylon string.  electric guiar wise i use fender strats, and have a couple custom made electrics by Valley Arts and Brian Mooore and have a killer Gibson SG. For bass I use a classic Fender Jazz bass and also have a Hohner (Steinberger design headless) bass and a bass by Luna Guitars.

Endorsments include Taylor Guitars, Monster Cable, Seymour Duncan Pickups and have had endorsements in the past with Brian Mooore, Mesa Boogie, Fender, Godin and Samick.

I graduated with honors from The Berklee College of Music and have a Master's in Jazz Performance from San Diego State University. I have taught for over 20 years and have 15 years experience in teaching in a number of universities. I speak French, Spanish, Lingala and Kituba

My general travel philosophy. This world is an amazing place and I am consistently in awe of what I see. Whoever designed it is unbelievably creative and I have the pleasure of exploring it. Besides growing up in the Congo, living in Belguim before that, travelling all over Europe as a kid and a number of visits to other African countries I try to get to Mexico frequently and have roamed all over California and the Western states up to Alaska. I've been to the Hawaiian islands many many times and now have Costa Rica as a second home. I see so much natural beauty in these places and enjoy the diversity of different peoples and their culture and that feeds my soul and my music. So those of you that know me know I've got more travelling up my sleeve and I've been fortunate that I can often get gigs here and there which helps pay for some of my adventures. More stories to come

Projected travels in the next year or so include Costa Rica, Brazil, Congo, Ghana, Cuba and Sierra Leone.

News!!!!!!!! Native Vibe is performing at the world famous Baked Potato in Studio City California Friday, November 4th for a CD release party for their latest, "Luna De Nosara". Luna De Nosara is also moving it's way through the selection process for the Grammy Awards this year. Great news and keep your fingers crossed.
Hola and welcome to my site. I just gotten back from an extended trip to Africa with the two prior months spent in Costa Rica so check out my travel page for some stories about my adventures. This year three projects that I put alot of efforts into were finished and released. Native Vibe's "Luna de Nosara" Keeva's "Sereia" and Jen Staves' "What Lies Beneath" I'm proud of all these projects and contributed as a producer, song writer and guitarist on all three. Besides those projects I've been getting a lot of calls to do session work on other artists recordings. Some are acoustic, some country, some rock and have a Doo Wop recording to play on next month. Before the year is out I will co-produced with Rogerio Jardim the debut CD for a good friend and artist named Deblois. I met Deblois in Costa Rica and have been playing bass for her for two years now down there. Her music is acoustic rock folk. In early November I will produce Kellie Rucker's debut recording. Her project will be blues-rock flavored. Kellie sings and plays her ass off on harmonica and has been one of my mentors in my journey of getting deep into the blues. I am pleased to announce several of my projects are now for sale at CDBaby.com including Luna de Nosara, Medicinal Purposes, Blue straight Through, Visions on the Ceiling and Keeva. That has opened up sales in Europe, Japan and Central America and some airplay on internet and analog radio has ensued. Smoothjazz.com is playing Native Vibe and Keeva material as well on their internet radio show. Gigwise I am looking forward to a month of playing on Catalina Island during the annual JazzTrax Festival. This year for the first time in my now 6 year tenure as the un-official after party I will be playing at Flips Sushi Bar. They have great food, a great sound system and it was time for a change, Got to shake things up now and then. This festival and my gigs there are the first three weekends in October. I play friday, saturday and sunday nights from 9 till 1 AM. It gets crazy in there and I will have each week a different killer percussionist playing with me. The last weekend of the festival will feature Rogerio and I playing Keeva as well as Native vibe material. Once I finish Kellie's and Deblois' and a possible spanish/acoustic one of my own I will head south to work in Nosara,Costa Rica my soon to be new home. I'll be there from mid November till about March. I've had quite a few friends come and visit and am able to bring down a number of musicians to accompany me there so stop by!!!! That's all for now Pura Vida
